Apparel Developer, Colour & Trim (18-Month Maternity Leave Contract)

Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a thoughtful and detail-driven human who finds joy in bringing creative vision to life through colour, trim, and process! Reporting to the Senior Designer, the Developer, Colour & Trim supports the Design and Raw Materials teams across all product categories and key stages of the product calendar. Through strong organization, collaboration, and attention to detail, this role plays a critical part in ensuring all colour and trim meet tentree’s quality, sustainability, and brand standards - helping position tentree as an industry leader in sustainable apparel.
You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to bring seasonal colour palettes and trim developments to life, ensuring timelines, specifications, and approvals stay on track throughout the GTM process.
Key Resonsibilities
Trim Design & Development
- Support seasonal trim briefs and new developments in partnership with Design and Raw Materials
- Create and manage trim spec sheets; communicate directly with suppliers on development, pricing, and lead times
- Request, track, review, and comment on trim lab dips across Proto, SMS, and Bulk stages
- Maintain trim trackers, PLM records, VLPs, and supporting documentation
- Review trims with the Design Team and communicate feedback to suppliers
- Maintain physical and digital trim libraries, including approved and rejected developments
- Partner with Brand to develop special hangtags, packaging, and inner garment labels
- Contribute to trim direction and updates for GTM presentations
- Own trim-related calendar deadlines to support key GTM milestones
Colour Design & Development
- Collaborate with Design to build and maintain seasonal colour palettes
- Create and manage digital and physical colour cards, swatches, and forecasting references
- Set up and maintain seasonal colours, colour combinations, and materials in PLM
- Request, track, review, and comment on colour lab dips and special dye or wash techniques
- Maintain lab dip trackers and approved/rejected colour libraries
- Develop and manage trim, zipper, accessory, metal, heat transfer, and embroidery colour standards
- Support GTM presentations through colour palette, mood board, VLP, and CAD updates
- Attend GTM milestone meetings and capture colour and trim actions
- Own colour-related calendar deadlines to support key GTM milestones
Additional Support
- Provide general support to the Design and Raw Materials teams as needed
Professional Requirements
- Bachelor of Design degree or equivalent post-secondary education
- 2–3 years of experience in colour and trim development or a related apparel role
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage timelines, processes, and multiple priorities
- Clear and confident communication skills with both internal teams and external partners are essential
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

A typical hiring range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 CAD per year with the final salary offer based on your qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant experience.
