The Plant Manager is responsible for day-to-day and strategic leadership and management of operations in our Harrold plant. They will oversee plant operations to achieve short and long-range business goals in safety, quality, customer service, costs, efficiency, and material usage. The Plant Manager is also responsible for our company image among growers and the industry. They will coordinate the production through supervising the manufacturing process and is accountable and instrumental in developing and maintaining all activities in the plant and meeting of production goals as well as ensuring the execution of all policies including but not limited to safety, quality, GMP, HACCP, food defense, allergen and all other food safety requirement and certifications. Managing operational costs, budgeting and capital projects while leading continuous improvement in operations & developing plant personnel will be crucial to the success of the team and drive company performance.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Committed to the highest standards in Safe People and Safe Food
  • Responsible and accountable for all plant operations, overseeing and managing all departments in the plant like production, sanitation, maintenance, logistics, etc.
  • Work closely with Puris Leadership to manage ongoing projects, expansions, upgrades, maintenance, etc.
  • Coordinates and works together with the Quality Assurance Manager and various department heads
  • Develop strategies and review costs and budgets and evaluate metrics to be able to run the plant at peak performance and minimum cost
  • Set key performance objectives, operational indicators, and strategies; and lead execution to achieve objectives.
  • Communicate performance objectives to all the Team Leaders so that they can effectively manage hourly team members, individually and in team meetings, to ensure hourly team members feel heard and engaged.
  • Ensure all Team Leaders and their hourly team members understand all plant performance indicators and receive regular feedback on the plant’s performance.
  • Lead the Plant team to meet our customer quality and delivery expectations.
  • Lead the operations activities necessary to ensure regulatory compliance, manage/ prevent risk
  • Hire, develop and retain managers, and operations staff.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and motivation to build and maintain a high performing plant.
  • Provide leadership needed to acquire, train, and retain effective staff who are responsible for fully training all positions to create an efficient operation.
  • Participate in annual plan development
  • Drive the plant safety culture & programs while working to ensure employees are working safely.
  • Provides estimates for projects, completion, materials, supplies, and equipment needs.
  • Estimates production times, staffing needs and related issues for management decisions.
  • Ensures all equipment are properly maintained and optimize utilization and performance.
  • Collaborate with Logistics to manage efficient cost-effective channels of delivery.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Operations (IT, legal, HR, Marketing) and Trade teams to achieve business objectives and develop a strong, functional and collaborative culture.
  • Responsible for overall site regulatory compliance
Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Proven work experience as a Plant Manager or comparable level of responsibility.
  • Proven leadership managing people and executing deliverables.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles; including, but not limited to, budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources.
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, and inventory.
  • Ability to understand basic computer literacy and programs like Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to hold staff accountable and coach staff.
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge in Lean Principles, preferred.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge in Reliability Principles, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or applicable technical discipline, preferred.
